Africa The big five

The phrase The Big Five game was coined by big-game hunters and refers to the five most difficult animals in Africa to hunt on foot. The term does not refer to their size and is still used in most tourist and wildlife guides that discuss African wildlife safaris.

The collection consists of:
the elephant (Loxodonta Africana)
the leopard (Panthera Pardus)
the lion (Panthera Leo)
the black (Diceros Bicornis) or white rhino (Ceratotherium Simum)
the Cape buffalo (Syncerus Caffer)
